September 20, 2016 – The Jackson County Board will consider the addition of a Class L liquor license that would allow county bed & breakfast businesses to sell alcohol to their guests and and friends of those guests for on-premise consumption only.

The state of Illinois recently began allowing B&B owners to obtain a liquor license and Jackson County will need to update its own ordinance to comply with this new opportunity. Might we see the sale of locally-brewed beer to guests at B&Bs soon? The vote is tonight, apparently, and we shall see. Sure would be nice to offer folks visiting southern Illinois a taste of what our area has to offer in the form of a great small-batch beer or locally-made wine or spirit!
