Unless you’ve been living under a rock, and even then a rock that’s not somewhere in the Shawnee National Forest, you know how popular Scratch Brewing Company has become and how much local, regional, state and even national press they’ve garnered since their launch just a few years ago. It’s only fitting, then, that the folks at Scratch would take their talents and innovations in a new direction … one even more tangible than beer, which if we’re anywhere near it will be consumed far too quickly!
This Saturday from 12 noon till 10pm, Scratch will have a release party for a new book co-authored by the founders themselves, entitled “The Homebrewer’s Almanac – A Seasonal Guide To Making Your Own Beer From Scratch.” Here’s a bit more detail on what to expect out at Sctahc this weekend:
“Join us for the release of our new book, The Homebrewer’s Almanac! We’ll have books for sale and Aaron and Marika will be signing copies all day and talking about brewing techniques. There will be home brew demos and we will be leading walks through the brewery garden and woods to talk about plants we use in our beer that you can use too. We’ll also be raffling off some fantastic goodies (info below). The event is free and open to everyone, and will take place during our normal operating hours on Saturday, September 10th. Join us as we celebrate the release of our book!
Homebrewer’s Almanac Raffle:
*Beer book pack
*Year-long membership to the Southern Illinois Brewers home brew club (membership includes discounts at Scratch and other local establishments)
*Gift Certificate for a night out at Scratch, including a round of samples of all beers, a pizza, and a growler fill

Very, very nice. It’s always a great time at Scratch and if the weather cooperates there are few places better to while away an afternoon. See you there!
